Southwold lights switch - on, Friday 8th December 2006

Once again members and guests of the East Anglia branch of the IWFS attended the famous Southwold Switch-on.

A total of 24 people turned out on a mild, and thankfully dry, Friday evening to drink mulled wine, eat mince pies and watch the traditional arrival of Father Christmas in the town. This year the lights were switched on by actor Bernard Hill who people may remember was in 'Boys from the Blackstuff' and 'Shirley Valentine'.
However, the highlight of the evening was the sumptuous buffet produced by The Swan Hotel. Once again the team excelled themselves with a fantastic selection of cold meats, salads, and of course the amazing seafood selection. This featured lobster, smoked eel, smoked trout, prawns, smoked salmon and some enormous Brancaster oysters

A superb selection of desserts was matched by some excellent cheeses and of course all were washed down by liberal quantities of Adnams Fizz and wines. A fantastic evening was had by all and our thanks go to Francis Guildea -Manager of the Swan Hotel and his staff for arranging our private dining room and laying on a great evening.
