Mel's musings.... notes from the Chairman

Hi everyone,

Can you believe we are in November?

My summer has been good despite the weather. I have been to Corfu a couple of times for a week just relaxing. I have also been to Mallorca to our Marriott Son Antem which is highly recommended (wonderful Spa ladies!) We also had some wonderful seafood in a restaurant in Sa Rapita and of course some great Mallorcian Rioja. (Which can be purchased from Harper Wells - discovered by Jodie?)

In this area I have had several wonderful meals, one being the Olive Branch at Tunstead. This was recommended by several people including Jenny and Jo from our group. It is a lovely little place, quite rustic I suppose with a small menu with lots of fish. My only criticism (personal) was the starters we a bit 'samey'. I went with the team from work one evening which worked well for 8 of us which also included a couple of vegetarians.

My favorite and memorable lunch was at the Crown at Southwold (I just wish it was closer) Peter and I met up with Franco and Sarah and we had a wonderful lunch. The crown has introduced some 'signature' starter one of which is a HUGE seafood platter. Sadly I don't have a photograph of it but it was wonderful complete with just enough salad. It had Oysters, smoked fish, prawns +++. There is also a vegetarian one which Franco had and we all dipped into with Farfel, hoummus etc., it was wonderful.

We recently held our AGM at the Broad House hotel in Wroxham. Philip Search and the team put on a memorable event for us and we shall be publishing a report shortly. You can see a copy of the menu here.

Mel
